Combination locks with levers was one of my favourite tricks. Project red makes making redstone circuits much easier - and if you haven't had a play or experiment with redstone, i highly recommend you do! You can make all mannerisms of machines and things using logic gates. These kinds of mods are more technical and may generally add more ores to your world. Technical mods: Project Red, Thermal Expansion/Mekanism, Chisel, Metallurgy. The Lich's castle is great, and the Naga is awesome. Twilight Forest adds a new dimension, a magical forest of whimsy full of new plants, trees, mobs, animals, bosses, magic and all kinds of other things. So when you enter a room in a castle, the mobs spawn the once so there's a challenge in clearing them out as they progressively get harder (they get armour and weapons!) and grant you a ton of loot at the end for your efforts. The best part of this mod is actually the mob spawners which act as "one use" mob spawns. There's two main types of mods i recommend Adventure mods and Technical mods:Īdventure mods: ChocolateQuest and Twilight Forest.ĬQ adds lots of randomly spawning castles, floating islands, pirate ships/fortresses and temples as well as NPC settlements and factions. Making your own modpack is a braver option, but it's doable - I did it! Want more technical stuff? Most versions of FeedTheBeast or Tekkit are really good, although since i've been playing my own custom modpack, I haven't really kept up with what's what! It adds lots of new mobs, random spawns and things to explore. It's great, and i feel it really changes the way the game works entirely, including the tool crafting system! It would certainly be a new adventure for you and your friends. Like adventure? Go get a modpack called Hexxit. Much of that has been lost as you've seen/done most things. Set up a massive project that will consume you forever.Ī lot of minecraft is exploring new things and the "oh, that's cool!" factor. Tl dr: The way to keep the game from getting stale by doing everything multiple times is to ensure that THIS time doesn't end. It'll keep you going, and keep the game from getting stale. But if you say, "I'm going to recreate Rivendell/Hogwarts/Castle X/etc.," then you'll have something that will take a lot of time and effort. If you go into it saying "I'm going to build a farm and a house," you'll be done in a week with nothing left to work on. A project that will take you a long time, and keep you interested. I recommend playing as Vanilla as possible, as that will keep your tension level up. That way your fun isn't hindered by the quality of the server or its players.Īfter that, all you need is something to do. Get on a good one that is mostly mature, doesn't fleece members, is run by adults, and provides protection like Residence or GriefPrevention. My recommendation is to find a good server. And if you DO have the inspiration to build, you don't need mods. They may serve for a while, but in the end if you don't have the inspiration to build then mods won't sustain you. Now, as for "recapturing the feeling," I'm not one that thinks that mods are the answer. There are many other games out there worthy of attention. It's rare to stick to a game for so long, so declining interest is only natural. Minecraft was never really meant to please everyone forever. for at least a few weeks anyway with the guys and gals i play with its been a long journey and i think i will give mini games servers a go. although i want to but find as soon as i load im like "right i don't know what to do or have anything fun to do" Have any of you been in this boat and tried something different and found you couldn’t stop playing again? I want that feeling back.ĮDIT: Thought i would throw an edit in here as you guys are giving some great advice, but to answer a fews things, I havnt played for over a month an struggling to get motivated to play it. I absolutely love this game, the concept of it, the delivery of it and the journey you take through it! but I can’t seem to stick to it in the same way! I thought starting a server with friends would help but after a couple of weeks it felt stale again! We have tried modded Minecraft but things were far too easy! that moment where all of a sudden the game feels stale! You've done everything multiple times on multiple playthroughs at multiple difficulties. I imagine some of you have felt like this.
